William Kelly is a filmmaker and writer. He received The Spirit Of Independents Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival for his first feature film, Comeback (2000) which the International Film Journal called a “vibrant and creative. . . primer on directing without a budget,” citing the “kinetic energy of its editing.”
He has written for Film Quarterly and worked as Chief Film Critic and Film Editor for COVER magazine from 1988 to 2000. He edited the feature film, Broken Sole Trilogy (2007) and created a short work, “Man’s Best Friend”, for the Humane Society.
Kelly oversees media production at LaGuardia Community College/City University of New York.
He currently is at work on a documentary about the New York City housing complex, Stuyvesant Town. He also maintains a lighthearted YouTube channel called, “Squirrel Budo.”
